Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Based in our Cork Clinic
Helen has worked with the Sunflower Clinic since November 2008. She has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and B.A (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and is currently completing her training in Baby Massage and Sensory Integration. Helen is currently working with children with Dyspraxia, Down Syndrome, Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD) and Sensory Processing difficulties and is also working with new born and young babies in the new baby groups being run by the clinic. Helen has extensive O.T. experience through her training in the NHS and the Department of Education in the United Kingdom. In the past Helen helped to generate the awareness of role of the Occupational Therapist within the specialised area of Paediatric Palliative Care in a UK Children’s hospice and also gained experience in a highly specialised in-patient Paediatric Psychiatric unit also in the UK.
Helen spent several years developing and delivering our service in the Kerry region and has been instrumental in raising awareness of the benefits of Occupational Therapy from an early age. She has worked closely with many organisations in the region, including Down Syndrome Kerry, and has maintained many links with the region.
Helen has complete the Sensory Integration training courses – I, II and III.
